Basketball Nova Scotia is proud to open nominations for the 2025 BNS Awards, recognizing the incredible athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and teams who make our basketball community so special.
Each year, these awards celebrate the passion, dedication, and excellence that drive the growth of basketball across Nova Scotia. We’re calling on our community to help us highlight those individuals and groups who truly embody the values of respect, inclusion, integrity, and excellence in the game.

We will be presenting awards in the following categories:
Minor Athlete of the Year (Male & Female)
For athletes born in 2011 or later (U10-U14) who have shown exceptional performance and character at the club level. Nominees must be BNS members and include an endorsement from their club administrator.
Junior Athlete of the Year (Male & Female)
For athletes born between 2007-2010 (U15-U18) who demonstrate excellence on the court and leadership within their team and community. Must be BNS members and include a club endorsement.
Senior Athlete of the Year (Male & Female)
For players born before 2007 (U19+) who continue to perform at a high level and represent Nova Scotia with pride, at local, national, or international levels.
Team of the Year
Awarded to a team that exemplifies teamwork, commitment, and success on and off the court, along with a positive impact on their community.
Coach of the Year
Recognizes a coach at the club, provincial, or national level who is dedicated to athlete development and upholds the core values of BNS through their leadership.
Volunteer of the Year (Note: Coaches are not eligible for this category)
Honours an individual whose efforts off the court have significantly contributed to the growth of basketball in their community.
Official of the Year
Presented to a referee who has demonstrated progress, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence in officiating.
Frank Baldwin Award
A prestigious award recognizing a longstanding contribution to the promotion and development of basketball in Nova Scotia.
Nominees must be recognized as Nova Scotians and be current BNS members.
Nominations should be clear, concise, and supportive—aim for approximately 150 words.
Focus on the nominee’s impact, values, and achievements.
The more detail provided, the better the Awards Committee can assess the nomination.
This is your opportunity to help us recognize the individuals and teams who are making a meaningful difference in our basketball community.
