 2025 Provincial Team Program Overview

Each year, Canada Basketball hosts a Nationwide competition for provincial and territorial U15 and U17 teams. Nova Scotia has been proud to field teams for the last 25 years.

In addition, the Canada Games - a national multi-sport event - is held every two years rotating between summer and winter sports. The 2025 Canada Summer Games will take place August 8-24 in St, John’s NL, and BNS will be sending both a U17 girls and boys team. 

In a non Canada Games year, BNS would send both U17 and U15 teams to the National competition. This year, there will be a boys and girls U15 tournament and the U17 boys and girls will compete at the Canada Games in place of a Canada Basketball National competition.

BNS PTP Pillars

The BNS PTP is guided by 5 principles:

1. Accountability - Success and shortcomings of our Provincial programs are reported, tracked, evaluated and shared with our stakeholders, to foster an organization of thought leadership.
2. Inclusion - Our groups are representative of the best athletes across the entire province, regardless of geography. ALL athletes feel like they belong, regardless of location, skill level, background, or experience. We intentionally target, recruit, and create opportunities for underrepresented groups in Nova Scotia.
3. Integrity - We do what we say we’ll do.
4. Respect - We treat each other as we would like to be treated, with dignity, understanding, and empathy. 
5. Trust - We live by our values.
